After four months I realised I was not supposed to be a Sister, but that my time amongst such holy and heroic souls had helped me find the strength to return to the world with the intent of living as a better Catholic.  I was also dreaming of my harp and excited about making music again.

At the moment I am working on some of Robert Burns' songs and writing my own when I have time.  I also enjoy playing background music for dinners, corporate events and occasional weddings.  However, what I most hope to do is to find ways to use my music to help people who are suffering.  It is a gift, and God did not give it to me just to enjoy for myself - I believe strongly that everything we are given is to be shared, because our talents are not our own, they are a free gift of Our Father.  He does not give everything to everyone because He wishes us to reach out of ourselves and help and care for each other.  If we don't reach out of ourselves we cannot love.

The Scottish small harp, or clarsach, is my instrument.  I also sing - mainly Irish and Scottish folk songs.  I studied the BA (hons) Scottish Music degree at the Royal Scottish Conservatoire, graduating in 2002.  For five years I worked as a freelance musician and harp teacher before leaving everything, including my country, to try the religious vocation in the Franciscan monastery of The Little Sisters of St. Francis in Lanorgard, Le Trévoux, Brittany.  All I can say briefly about this experience is that it was the best and hardest thing I had ever done and one of the most important times of my life.  Only in silence and prayer can we really find out what we want and should do.
